What inspired you to join the team here?

I have always loved working for non-profit organizations because of their mission-driven purposes. Amani’s mission spoke to me right away because every person has the right to safety, personal growth, and a sense of belonging. I love working for an organization that fosters those rights.

What brought you to Fort Wayne, IN?

I grew up on a farm in Hudson, Indiana, about 45 minutes north of here. After college, I lived in Indianapolis for several years, then moved to Fort Wayne over 25 years ago to be closer to family.

What is your favorite part of your job?

My role as CFO at Amani includes accounting, finance, grants, and human resources, which all fit well with my experience and education. I enjoy the variety of work and look forward to becoming a support for all employees.

What challenges have you faced in your role or department?

It takes a while to get up-to-speed in a new organization and in a new role. I’m pretty hard on myself when I don’t learn something as quickly as I would like.

What should community members know about Amani?

Amani is full of heart! Each employee believes and supports the mission, which is obvious day in and day out. Our clients are our number one priority!

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I love watching my son, a professional musician (percussionist), perform. I am a life-long learner, so I am regularly watching webinars and reading up on new topics of interest. I enjoy reading historical fiction and nonfiction, autobiographies and biographies, as well as many types of novels. I love animals and currently have two cats.

What is something not many people know about you?

I collect Barbies and create dioramas (with the help of my sister) to display them.
