In April 2021, Amani's board of directors officially adopted Welcoming Fort Wayne as one of its strategic initiatives. Welcoming Fort Wayne is a member of the Welcoming America network. Originally sponsored by Associated Churches of Fort Wayne and Allen County and individual champions including Melissa Rinehart, Welcoming Fort Wayne promotes a community of neighbors and reduces barriers to immigrants and refugees who are adjusting to their new homes. Amani is facilitating the gathering of various groups to create positive change. Providing education is a great way to strengthen community preparedness. This is why Amani provides unique cultural competency training and support services.

Thank You to our Funders

In November 2022, Amani Family Services, through the Welcoming Fort Wayne initiative, announced its partnership with Greater Fort Wayne, Inc. and the Downtown Fort Wayne Improvement District for the Gateways for Growth Challenge.

Over the past year, these organizations have worked together with the support of technical advisors to create a community narrative, backed by data, in an effort to highlight the importance of inclusion. Fort Wayne is one of only ten localities selected to participate this year in the national initiative.

Through the use of census information and gathering the local voices of nearly 800 residents, our community can access the latest set of data regarding the impact of immigrants and refugees in Allen County and the state of belonging in our community.
