This short documentary film features the euphoria and sanctuary of inline skating as Ryan reveals inner struggles, trials and aspirations as he journeys towards a sense of belonging. Wheels of Fate is a capturing observation that speaks to the intricacies of the immigrant experience and the passion of inline skating.
Hafu (Japanese & English): When an American bride-to-be spends the day reuniting with her Japanese grandmother, she discovers through the dance of communication that she is more connected to her heritage than she realized.
My name is Name (Spanish): An illustrated story that uses poetic language to tell the story of Name, a girl who symbolizes all children who have been forced to leave their homes because of war, violence, or persecution. Her journey is both a tale of loss and hope, of fear and the search for freedom. Through the power of literature and the sensitivity of the illustrations, this work invites us to reflect on the right to refuge, empathy, and social justice, reminding us that every story of displacement contains a deep desire for freedom.
My Grandmother Is a Skydiver (Ukraine & Other): A granddaughter experiencing the invasion of Ukraine reflects about past generations, who were constantly going through deportations, different forms of wars and genocides
Toward the Sun (Multiple Languages): A group of recently resettled Asian, Arab, and African women embark on their first overnight camping trip in the United States. Through the eyes of Fatima, a young Afghan with an old soul, and Bashaer, a spirited Iraqi elder, the women discover connection and belonging in the landscape, and with each other.
