Local high school students have been invited to explore the immigrant and refugee experience in greater Fort Wayne and capture these stories in works of art. These works, which include story-portrait collages and graphic arts, will engage with immigrant and refugee stories at the data and narrative levels. Students have been provided with the New Americans of Allen County data report and are encouraged to take a deeper dive into the story of a specific new American in their community, learning about their past struggles, present situations, and future aspirations.

Art from this project will displayed at University of Saint Francis’s Rolland Art Center from September 21 through October 13.

Exceptional artwork will be recognized at an award ceremony during the opening reception.
Awardees will be eligible for merit-based art scholarships to University of Francis.
